We are pleased to announce that we will be hosting “The 3rd KAWAI MUSIC SCHOOL PIANO COMPETITION”.
Message
At KAWAI MUSIC SCHOOL, we have conducted our music education activities with three goals: (1) learning through music, not just learning music (2) not just aiming to acquire techniques, and (3) nurturing individuality and making a richer personality through activities to express oneself through music.
They are also based on our educational philosophy: "Through music, we guide the irreplaceable personality of each student, and through mutual respect for each person's personality, we create the joy of communicating and resonating with others".
Thanks to the understanding and cooperation of all of you, we are able to hold this competition for the third time, carrying on the spirit of the KAWAI MUSIC COMPETITION of "actively valuing spontaneous musical expression rather than superiority or inferiority of technique," which is based on the educational philosophy of the KAWAI MUSIC SCHOOL.
We would like you to demonstrate your willingness to express yourself, such as the joy of making music with the teacher or the delight of conveying yourself to a large audience.
We hope that this competition will help you to rediscover the importance and necessity of music and make your musical life more fruitful.

※Each participant can join only one category. Exceptionally, you can participate in two categories only if you apply for 1 from Solo and 1 from Duo category.
※Students who won the “Best Performance Award” or “Grand Prize” in the previous competitions will not be accepted to the same category. (Application to the higher level category will be accepted.)
※Students who were born on or after April 1, 2020 are not eligible to participate in this competition.

This competition consists of 3 Rounds.

Judging Philosophy
The judging process in this competition will focus on musical expression, not just technique.
Therefore, your choice of piece itself will not affect your evaluation.
In particular, we will evaluate the following.
1. Whether the performance shows your willingness to express yourself.
2. Whether the performance shows the results of your efforts.
Note
If there is conflict in interpretation between the English version and other language version of this Regulations due to the translation reasons, the state in the English version will be considered to be the standard.
